If an Indie Author writes an amazing book,
and no one reads it, did it really happen?
YES! D. C. Wright-Hammer here to remind everyone that Indie Authors are legitimate authors. We write the books that only we can write, and there are readers out there who would love our work.
The problem: we often don’t get the exposure we need to find those readers. As an indie author myself, I know all too well how difficult it can be to get exposure of any kind without paying an arm and leg. Free services are few and far between. As someone who is fortunate enough to have my own website, I wanted to do my part to connect Indie Authors and readers. To that end, I’m spotlighting a different Indie Author each week on this website, giving them the opportunity to self-promote in ways they might not otherwise get.
This service is FREE with website traffic being the only direct compensation for me.
To be considered for the Indie Author Spotlight, you need to be an existing or aspiring Indie Author. By that, I mean you have self-published one or more books or plan to in the relatively near future. If this sounds like you, finish reading this page and click the link to the Google form at the bottom. On the form, you will provide the following information:
- Email address
- Short bio
- What does it mean to you to be an indie author?
- Any new releases or big events you want to mention?
- List of book titles with hyperlinks
- Where can others find you? (i.e. social media, website, etc.)
- Picture of yourself
- Picture of one book cover
Note: Your information will only be used for the Indie Author Spotlight.
Getting into the Spotlight
Submissions are generally considered on a first come, first service basis. Preferential treatment is given to authors who lack resources, like not having a website or other means to self-publish because these authors will benefit the most from the spotlight; send me a private email if this applies to you.
Since this is a free service, not all submissions will be accepted. That said, other than the time it takes to put the information together, you’ve got nothing to lose from submitting. ALL indie authors are encouraged to participate when submissions are open.
If you are chosen for a spotlight, I will send an email confirming the timing.
A new spotlight will be published to hammerstonecreative.com each Sunday around 9 AM Central US. Exact time may vary. I will do my best to provide a preview of the page to the author in advance of publishing but occasionally this may not happen. I may post teasers of the spotlight on social media tagging the author before it goes live. Once the spotlight is live, it will be shared on my social media pages and possibly others with the author tagged. Obviously, spotlight authors are encouraged to share everywhere they see fit.
Spotlight pages will remain published for an indefinite amount of time after their allotted one week though they may not be visible on hammerstonecreative.com.
Spotlight pages may be taken down at any time without notification. Authors can email at any time to request that their spotlight be taken down.
