INDIE AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT:
DEIDRE J OWEN
“Being an indie author is…freedom to share my heart and to tell my tales.”
Deidre J Owen, author of The Heaven Zoo books, was born in Lexington, Kentucky, but aside from a stint in the Canadian Maritimes, she has spent a majority of her time in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. As a mother herself, she loves connecting with children and strives to instill love and understanding into the hearts of the next generation. Formerly a certified veterinary technician (with a quirky history of random interests), she is currently loving life in Lithia, Florida, as an author and stay-at-home parent.
What Does it Mean to You to be an Indie Author?
Being an indie author is a remarkable freedom. It is freedom to share my heart and to tell my tales. It is freedom to build myself up, freedom to fail, and freedom to try again. And it is freedom to connect with others like me without pretense, judgment, or expectation. We grow, we blossom, we cry, we rage, and then…we fly. As an indie, I can be my “oddkward” little self…all on my own terms.
What Do you Want Readers to Know?
On November 8th, I launched volume one of a six-part children’s chapter book series called “We’re All Just People.” Volumes 2 and 3 are planned for release in December and January (respectively). The rest will release early 2019.
